Our Story
From Roads to Relationships, and From Kenya to Your Cup
Hartma’s journey into coffee began somewhere unexpected: through years of cross-border infrastructure and engineering work.
Through this work, our team built lasting connections with partners in Kenya and developed a deeper appreciation for the people, landscapes, and communities we encountered along the way. Over time, those connections led us beyond infrastructure and into another world deeply rooted in place: coffee.
As we explored Kenya’s coffee-growing regions, we began building relationships with coffee growers, estate owners, and local partners. We discovered not only exceptional coffees, but also the knowledge, craftsmanship, and dedication behind every harvest.
What began as curiosity gradually became a commitment—to better understand where great coffee comes from, how it is grown and processed, and how we could help bring these coffees to new markets while preserving the character and story of their origins.
Today, Hartma Coffee brings distinctive Kenyan coffees to the U.S. market with a focus on quality, traceability, and long-term relationships. To us, great coffee is more than a flavor profile. It is a connection between origin and destination, and between the people who grow coffee and those who roast, brew, and enjoy it.
Our path into coffee may be unconventional, but the principle behind our work has remained the same. Whether building infrastructure or building a coffee supply chain, we believe meaningful connections are built through trust, attention to detail, and partnerships designed to last.
